FRANK M. ORTIZ: Mr. Ortiz was an Assistant District Attorney in New York County from 1986 to 1989 where he was a member of the Violent Predator Task Force. He joined the law firm of Wilentz, Goldman & Spitzer in 1989 and concentrated his practice in Asbestos and other Toxic Tort Litigation including Lead Poisoning, Medical Devices and Prescription Drugs. Mr. Ortiz is a member of the National Institute for Trial Advocacy. He has secured jury verdicts in excess of 1 million dollars in over a dozen actions including verdicts in asbestos matters of $18 million in 1990, $30 million in 1992, $9.3 million in 1997 and $3.5 million in 1999. Mr. Ortiz was twice listed in the National Law Journal’s Largest Verdicts having participated as co-counsel in the largest asbestos related jury verdict in the country in 1992 and one of the three largest in the country in 1990. Frank Ortiz regularly lectures and gives presentations to Unions, Retiree Clubs and organizations such as the American College of Toxicology, the New York Committee for Occupational Safety and Health and the Mt. Sinai School of Medicine. He has also worked with community organizations such as ACORN to develop public awareness of childhood lead poisoning and lectured to physician groups and parent organizations about the dangers of lead poisoning. |
